Expansion of Regulated Electrical Products Exported to Qatar from January 2015
The Qatar Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with Qatar General Organization of Standards and Metrology (QGOSM), has further expanded the list of Electrical products requiring evidence of conformity, prior to entering the country. This expanded list comes into effect from January 1st 2015.
Listed below are the applicable standards:
|Flexible Electrical Cords insulated with PVC||IEC 60227-1 & applicable part 2||Polyvinyl chloride insulated cables of rated voltages up to and including 450/750 V - Part 1: General requirements|
|Electric Water Heaters||IEC 60335-1 & IEC 60335-2-21||Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-21: Particular requirements for storage water heaters|
In addition to the above products, the following appliances have also been included in the expanded list of regulated electrical appliances requiring a Certificate of Conformity.
We are currently liaising with QGOSM to confirm the relevant standards for these products, as well as clarify the exact products covered within the category of 'Electric Heaters'.
These, and all regulated electrical appliances, must also adhere to the mains supply voltage requirements for Qatar which are 240V or 220-240V for single phase and 415V for three phase, with a rated frequency of 50Hz.
Shipments of these, and all regulated products within the Qatar progamme, must be accompanied by evidence of conformity, such as a Certificate of Conformity and test report issued by an approved inspection body such as Intertek. The test report must be no more than one year old upon the shipments arrival in Qatar.
