From May 20th 2022, the Regulated Product (RP) List for the Egypt Conformity Assessment Programme (ECAP) is changing.

Decree 96/2022, published by the Egyptian Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the Egyptian Official Gazette on 22nd February 2022, stipulates the following amendments. stipulates the following amendments.

Products to be removed from the GOEIC ECAP RP List:

The following products will be removed from the GOEIC ECAP RP List initially published in Decree 991/2015: 

  • Milk and its products
  • Dried and preserved fruits
  • Oils and Fats
  • Cocoa products and chocolate
  • Sugar confectionary
  • Pastry products, Cereal-based bread and similar products
  • Fruit juices
  • Potable, natural, and carbonated water

Above mentioned products are already included in the RP List of the Egypt National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) Certification Programme which started on 1st November 2020. Intertek is a registered Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) with NFSA and is authorized to certify regulated food products supplied from specified Countries of Supply.

Products to be added to the GOEIC ECAP RP List:

The following products will be added to the GOEIC ECAP RP List initially published in Decree 991/2015 and will require a Certificate of Inspection (CoI) in order to clear their Consignments at the Egyptian Ports/Borders: 

  • Electrical current transformers
  • Door Locks
  • Low-Pressure Regulators for household use
  • Hand valves for liquefied gas pipes
  • Low Voltage Cables
  • Welding Electrodes
  • Fluorescent ballasts
  • Efficiency-saving lamps
  • Dry Batteries
  • Sealed Batteries (Emergency Flashlight Batteries)
  • Golf Batteries
