Halal Certificate no longer a mandatory document for CoI issuance for exports of Food to Egypt

Exporting Food to Egypt – Halal Certificate no longer a mandatory document for CoI issuance

The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has confirmed with Intertek that Halal Certificate is no longer considered as a mandatory document for the issuance of Certificate of Inspection (CoI) under the NFSA Food Certification Programme, which was previously considered as pre-requisite for compliance verification with certain Egyptian Standards for meat, poultry and their products.

However, the Halal Certificate may be required for some food product consignments by the Egyptian Customs for its clearance at the Ports/Borders. Therefore Exporters are advised to verify this with the concerned parties before sending in their consignments.

Intertek is here to help you to get ready and assures you full support and assistance in meeting the Egypt NFSA requirements.
