Creating Business Improvements Through Gender Equality Certification

Episode #8

Gender Equality in Businesses in the EDGE Certification Program with Alice Armand, Technical & Operations Manager, and EDGE Program Manager of Intertek France for Business Assurance.

On this week's episode of Assurance in Action, Alice Armand of Intertek France for Business Assurance explains the importance of implementing an EDGE certification for an organisation, of any sector or size, aspiring to create a framework for gender equality in the workplace.

Originated nearly six years ago by the EDGE Certified Foundation, EDGE certification aims to recognise what businesses are accomplishing for gender equality within its operational processes and practices. Short for Economic Dividends for Gender Equality, EDGE covers key areas such as; equal pay for equivalent work, recruitment and promotion, and providing a positive work culture and company image. This results in an effective balance for businesses and a healthy pipeline of individuals thus providing flexible work opportunities and job engagement for employees.

Within its three levels of certification, an organisation of any industry can achieve a certification to EDGE, therefore, committing to strong gender balance across the organisation and making a difference in business culture. The standard will assist organisations in creating a framework for gender equality through its policies and practices.
