ENERGY STAR Luminaires V2.0: Navigating the Change in Product Specification Requirements from Version 1.2 to Version 2.0

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the final version of the ENERGY STAR® Specification for Luminaires Version 2.0. The new specification and all requirements will be effective June 1, 2016.

Intertek’s tip sheet ENERGY STAR Luminaires V2.0: Navigating the Change in Product Specification Requirements from Version 1.2 to Version 2.0 highlights upcoming deadlines and the 5 key changes most important to lighting manufacturers.

To continue labeling products with the ENERGY STAR logo, all luminaires must recertify by June 1, 2016 or drop off the ENERGY STAR Qualified Products List (QPL). Luminaires Version 2.0 also features changes to align the specification and requirements with the ENERGY STAR Specification for Lamps Version 2.0.

A technical review with Intertek can help you determine what requirements are covered by your existing testing, as well as any action required to keep your models listed.
