IAS Metal Building Systems Inspection Accreditation
IAS accredits the inspection programs of companies that design and fabricate custom engineered metal building systems. The accreditation is based on requirements in IAS Accreditation Criteria AC472, International Building Code® and related standards. The accreditation criteria covers inspections of metal building system elements that are essential for designing, specifying, building or approving metal building systems.

Vinyl Manufacturers Association (VMA)
The IAS Metal Building Systems Inspection Accreditation (VMA) originated in 2004 as the Vinyl Fence Deck & Railing Manufacturers Association (VFDRMA). In an effort to raise the standards for the vinyl industry VMA instituted a certification program to maintain product quality. In addition to the standard testing like impact, weather, and wind, the certification program focuses on the cell classification of the Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based on the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
The 2000 Legislature authorized implementation of the first edition of the Florida Building Code. Now in its fifth edition, the Code governs the design, construction, erection, alteration, modification, repair, and demolition of public and private buildings, structures, and facilities in the state. Affordable housing developments must comply with these provisions. This overview summarizes the history of the Code’s development, its scope, adoption, and maintenance. Sources drawn upon for this summary include Florida Building Commission publications, Legislative Committee analyses of recent Building Code bills, Florida Statutes, and the Building Code itself.
