High-Performance Mark Program for Performance Products

Intertek High-Performance Mark program helps retailers, brands and manufacturers demonstrate the functional properties of Textile, Footwear, Furniture, Kitchenware, Pet Products, Eyewear and Jewelry by verifying performance attributes through testing and also enabling you to communicate the benefits to your customers through labeling that bears the High-Performance Mark.

Consumers today are looking for the consumer products that they use every day to have functional properties that make their lives easier. For example, pet owners may look for upholstered furniture that can resist scratches from cats or dogs, or pet toys that can withstand repetitive biting and remain functional. There are many products in the market that claim to have these functions, however, there are limited mandatory regulations to control the quality of the performance features, and consumers may end up purchasing products that do not perform as advertised. It also poses challenges for retailers, brands, and manufacturers when making manufacturing and sourcing decisions.

That’s why Intertek developed the High-Performance Mark program to help you ensure the claims you make about your products’ high-performance features are true and accurate, thus your products can stand out among competing products in a crowded market. With the High-Performance Mark you can differentiate the functional performance of your consumer products using the associated mark to help communicate features and benefits to your end-consumers.

High-Performance Features for Your Product Type

Currently, the Program offers over 70 High-Performance features for various product types. You can select one or more high-performance features from the same product type for obtaining the High-Performance Mark.

How does the program work?

The program currently o­ffers a wide range of performance claims for verification through product testing at our High-Performance Centres of Excellence across the world, covering Textile, Footwear, Furniture, Kitchenware, Pet Products, Eyewear and Jewelry.

High-Performance Mark and Trade Dressing

It comes with verified performance descriptor(s) for your product and a unique QR code that points to the product page in our High-Performance Mark Directory, showcasing the performance attributes of your product with descriptions.

High-Performance Mark Certificate

It contains information on your company name, product performance claims and the date of certificate.

Applications of High-Performance Mark

The High-Performance Mark provides “proof of performance” for you to easily communicate with your customers the verified functional properties of products with a trace-and-track QR code linking to identifiable marks and certificates on our High-Performance Mark Directory. You can apply the Mark on product tags, website, mobile app, videos, brochures, look books, etc., for winning customers’ confidence and trust through third-party verification from Intertek – the world’s leading Total Quality Assurance solutions provider.

Product tag

Let end consumers know about how good the functional performance of your products are so that they are willing to pay more. The tag and QR code enable them to get additional information on the functional level, performance features, as well as the proof of quality for your products.

The Intertek High-Performance Mark Program is a verification program covering the marketing of high-performance features of consumer products. Application of the High-Performance Mark (HP Mark) on a product indicates that the samples tested by Intertek met the requirements established for specific high-performance functionalities as listed in the Program’s requirement table (https://www.intertek.com/products-retail/hp-mark/). The verification of high-performance claims is based on the test results at the time of initial testing based on a selected sample. Applicants must ensure that a representative sample is provided to Intertek for testing. Also, if there is any change in design, material, processing, or sourcing of the product that may impact the property for which the HP Mark was issued, the applicant shall inform Intertek and submit a new application for the HP Mark.

Intertek’s responsibility and liability are limited to the terms and conditions of the Program’s agreement. Intertek assumes no liability to any party, other than to the Client, in accordance with the agreement, for any loss, expense or damage occasioned by the use of this information. Intertek is not responsible for the production quality control and does not relieve the Client of their obligations in this respect. Information provided in our HP Mark, Certificate and Testing Reports are proprietary to Intertek, and Intertek reserves the right to make any changes to the information at any time without notice or to withdraw the HP Mark and related information given for products in case the HP Mark becomes invalid.
