ENERGY STAR® Certification Program
As an EPA Recognized Certification Body for all gas and electrical ENERGY STAR® product categories, Intertek provides 24-hour ENERGY STAR® Testing and Certification for all third-party requirements.
Intertek was among the first laboratories in the world to obtain status as both an EPA Recognized Testing Laboratory AND an EPA Recognized Certification Body (CB). Furthermore, Intertek is the only Recognized CB to cover certification for all gas and electrical ENERGY STAR® product categories, including more than 60 product types across Appliances, Home Electronics, HVAC, Information Technology, Lighting, and Commercial Food Service Equipment. 24-Hour Certification
For the new ENERGY STAR® third-party certification requirements, Intertek will provide 24-hour certification, after required testing parameters are met, to meet time-to-market demands for manufacturers seeking ENERGY STAR® approvals.
Global Network of Energy Efficiency Testing Labs
For manufacturers requiring testing, Intertek recently deployed 18 global Energy Efficiency Testing Laboratories (7kb PDF), throughout North America, Asia and Europe. These Energy Efficiency labs provide immediate testing capacity for qualification and verification testing, strategically located in key regional manufacturing centers.
Data Acceptance Program (SATELLITE)
Additionally, for ENERGY STAR® Partners that will conduct testing in their own labs, as part of Intertek’s SATELLITE Data Acceptance Program. Partners will submit test data to Intertek for engineering review to product specification requirements, and then ENERGY STAR® certification will be awarded for compliant products. For this, formal ISO 17025 accreditation of your lab is NOT required.
About the Changes to the ENERGY STAR® Program
EPA and DOE have announced enhancement to the ENERGY STAR® Program (Source: energystar.gov) for product qualification and verification. Since January 2011, all ENERGY STAR® Partners are required to have third-party ENERGY STAR® certification of product performance prior to labeling. Partners must also submit products to on-going verification testing, administered by the respective products’ EPA Recognized Certification Body, to ensure labeled products continue to meet ENERGY STAR® requirements.
