Trung Vo, M.SC., Manager, Toxicology & Regulatory Affairs, Food & Nutrition Group
Mr. Vo, a Toxicologist in the Food and Nutrition group, has been with Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy since 2013. He is actively involved in the preparation of successful regulatory submissions for food ingredients, such as additives, enzymes, and flavourings, to the United States Food and Drug Administration, European Food Safety Authority, Food Standards Australia New Zealand, and Health Canada. This work requires critical evaluation and interpretation of scientific literature on toxicology, carcinogenicity, epidemiology, and genotoxicity. Mr. Vo has been a key player in evaluating potential allergenicity and toxicogenicity of food ingredients using an in silico approach. He has also been actively involved in publication of safety data supporting novel food ingredients in scientific peer-reviewed journals.
Mr. Vo received his M.Sc. in Food Safety from Michigan State University. His thesis project included a safety evaluation of novel technologies used in the manufacture of high-intensity sweeteners, specifically steviol glycosides and Luo Han Guo extracts. Mr. Vo received his B.Sc. (Honours) in Toxicology from the University of Guelph. His senior thesis project included conducting an ecotoxicological risk assessment on Permethrin and Carbofuran in accordance with U.S EPA guidelines.
