Scope: Per ASTM D1761: "These test methods provide a basic procedure for evaluating the resistance of wood and wood-base materials to direct withdrawal of nails, staples, and screws."

Test Procedure: The following test procedures are defined within ASTM D1761:

Chemicals are mixed with a small sample of test material in a test tube and mixed thoroughly. A spectrophotometer is used to read the absorbance of at 580 mm for each test tube. The values of each test tube are compared to readings taken using test tubes filled with distilled water as a control.

End Result: This test method results in the formaldehyde concentration in air.
