Learn how health claims are regulated in major markets, including the US, the EU, Canada, Australia, and Japan and what are the current trends in foods and health claims.

Why should you view this Global Food Ingredients webinar?

Health claims on food labels and advertising can be a valuable tool in the marketing of foods to consumers in general or to specific populations. These claims are a representation that a relationship exists between consumption of a food and a consumer’s health. Many countries, states, and other worldwide jurisdictions have regulations in place to ensure that health claims are scientifically substantiated but the regulatory frameworks for using health claims in these markets differs between jurisdictions.

You should view this Novel Food Regulation webinar if you are:

  • A food, beverage, or ingredient manufacturer
  • A supplier that wants to market new ingredients in other countries
  • Legal counsel that supports food, beverage, and ingredient manufacturers

Presented by Dr. Kathy Musa-Veloso, a Director within the Food & Nutrition Group, who leads a team of scientific and regulatory consultants in the preparation and stewardship of health claim applications in key markets globally, including Canada, the United States, and the European Union.

Since joining Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy (formerly Cantox) in 2003, Dr. Musa-Veloso also conducts expert scientific reviews of clinical and pre-clinical data for health claims to determine whether the existing evidence is sufficient to support the proposed health claim. Where data insufficiencies are identified, Dr. Musa-Veloso provides expertise in the preparation and review of clinical study protocols, and in pre-qualifying clinical research facilities prior to the placement of clinical studies with a Contract Research Organization (CRO). To further facilitate our clients’ requirements, her team provides on-going support of clinical studies, including clinical trial monitoring and auditing, ensuring compliance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and adherence to study protocols.
