Intertek Launches Registration Services for REACH

Intertek (www.intertek.com/reach), a leading provider of quality, testing and analysis solutions, offers chemical registration services to fulfil each of the requirements of REACH registration, including technical dossier preparation and management of Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF) participation. Under the REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals), it is expected that over 30,000 existing chemicals will require registration with the European Chemicals Association (ECHA.) Chemicals, substances, preparations and finished articles must be REACH-compliant in order to continue to be sold or manufactured in the EU. Chemicals manufactured in or imported into the EU in excess of one tonne per annum must be registered. REACH pre-registration, the first stage of REACH compliance, must be completed between June 1 and December 1, 2008. Following pre-registration, chemicals will be prioritized for registration over the next 11 years during which time producers will be required to provide a technical dossier containing chemical property information, including physico-chemical and toxicological data, and other data related to their products’ impact on human health and the environment.
