Food contact regulations are designed to ensure the safe use of packaging and other materials or surfaces that come into contact with food during production, processing, storage, preparation and serving. These are also known as food contact materials (FCMs).

Global regulatory compliance for FCMs is complex and constantly evolving with important differences between notification and compliance requirements across different geographical regions.

If you are a stakeholder in the food contact materials supply chain (chemicals or packaging sectors, material suppliers or a brand owner), then staying up to date on FCM legislation is key to gaining market access.

Potential health risks associated with NIAS should be assessed as a requirement of the European Food Contact Regulation 10/2011 however this can be a challenging process.

This webinar, from our expert David Eaves, Regulatory Consultant, covers key elements of the regulations and the latest thought leadership on suitable approaches to identification and quantification of NIAS, applying the correct procedures to identify unknown substances and what steps should be covered in a toxicology risk assessment in order to assess potential health risk associated with the final material or article in accordance with internationally recognised scientific principles.
