Intertek Expands Corrosion and Materials Testing Services

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, has opened a new corrosion testing facility at the Westport Technology Center in Houston, Texas, USA (Intertek Westport).
Intertek Westport, formerly the BP Technology Center in Houston, delivers comprehensive technical services to the upstream oil and gas sector.
Intertek's expanded materials and corrosion testing services bring new capabilities to the Westport facility, including CO2 corrosion & inhibition testing, corrosion resistant alloys testing, flow accelerated and localized corrosion studies, microbial influenced corrosion testing, sour service expertise, electrochemistry and chemical analysis. An autoclave capability for corrosion related tests at elevated temperatures and pressures is planned.
One of Intertek’s established corrosion consultancy and testing centers, Intertek CAPCIS, supports the Westport expansion with technical consultancy and training. Comparability and consistency between the two sites is ensured by direct transfer of proven CAPCIS test methods and associated quality systems. CAPCIS, located in the UK, has over 30 years' experience providing materials and corrosion testing services.
