Indonesia – Approved New Regulations on SNI Compliance for Glazed Ceramics Eating and Drinking Utensils

Vol. 1478 | 05 Jun 2025
New Indonesian regulation requires glazed ceramic utensils to comply with SNI 7275:2022, certified by accredited bodies, and display SNI and electronic marks by October 2025.
The Ministry of Industry has issued Ministry Regulation No. 14 of 2025 on the implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for glazed ceramic eating and drinking utensils.
Key Updates
Under the Regulations, glazed ceramic eating and drinking utensils must comply with SNI 7275:2022 – Glazed Ceramics: Eating and Drinking Utensils.
Products are required to undergo a conformity assessment using either the Type 5 or Type 1 certification system. The certification process will involve evaluation by a Product Certification Body (LSPro), while conformity testing must be carried out by accredited laboratories, either in Indonesia or abroad. The outcomes of these assessments will be documented in the SNI Certification.
All applicable products must display both the SNI mark and the electronic mark. Authorization for using the SNI mark must be obtained through the Certificate for the Use of the SNI Mark (SPPT SNI).
This regulation also repeals Ministry Regulation No. 48 of 2018, which previously governed the mandatory implementation of SNI for ceramic tableware.
Effective Date
These regulations will take effect on October 25, 2025. Products that are manufactured or imported before this date must comply with the new requirements by October 25, 2026.
