U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Testing and Certification Rule Effective Feb. 8, 2013

Oak Brook, IL
– Children’s products manufactured after Feb. 8, 2013, will need to meet new testing and recordkeeping requirements to be sold in the U.S. when the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) Testing and Certification Rule goes into effect. These new requirements include:

  • Conducting periodic testing to provide a high degree of assurance that standards applicable to product continue to be met
  • Retesting and recertification if a product undergoes a material change
  • Developing training and policies to prevent undue influence over third-party labs

To help U.S. manufacturers and importers ensure their children’s products are in compliance with the Testing and Certification Rule and other Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requirements, Intertek offers comprehensive testing solutions for toys, juvenile products, textiles and footwear through our network of CPSC-accredited third-party testing labs, as well as advisory solutions.
