A message from our CEO, Dr. Wolfhart Hauser:

In markets around the world, governments and consumers are scrutinising the energy efficiency of manufactured products. As we face the threat of climate change and a sea of products and processes with “green” tags, Intertek’s customers and partners are needing our expertise more and more to verify products’ efficiency and claims.

Regulatory agencies around the world are increasing their efforts to control the efficiency of products sold in their jurisdictions. Third-party testing and certification is increasingly being seen as the most reliable way to ensure that products meet legal and marketplace criteria for energy efficiency, ahead of self-declaration by manufacturers. Regulatory activity continues to increase. In North America, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced in April, 2010 that manufacturers may no longer place the ENERGY STAR® label on products unless qualifying information, including a lab report, is submitted and approved by the EPA.

Intertek can provide manufacturers with a fast, efficient solution to verifying their energy efficiency claims. We have unrivalled expertise, experience, and facilities across North America, Europe and Asia for third-party energy efficiency testing and certification. Intertek is continually investing in new testing capabilities and advisory services across our global laboratory networks and keeping our clients ahead of the “green curve." Our experts are watching and anticipating changes in the green product landscapes around the world every day as we deliver advice and solutions to keep clients’ ahead of the market and ready for regulatory changes. We are committed to ensuring that Intertek clients can capitalize on the demand for safer, higher quality, more “green” products around the world, and their brands will become stronger and more successful as a result.
