Jeffrey W. Card, Ph.D. Associate Director, Toxicology

Dr. Jeffrey Card joined the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Group at Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy in 2007.  He works closely with clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to design and implement nonclinical toxicology programs, critically analyze and interpret toxicology study data, and prepare regulatory submissions.  In addition, Dr. Card serves as the head of the risk assessment team to address safety issues related to drug product extractables/leachables, impurities, contaminants, and cross-contamination of active ingredients, including derivation of health-based exposure limits.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Queen’s University, Dr. Card spent 4 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, NC.  He has over 10 years of research experience in academic and government laboratories, has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of toxicology, physiology, carcinogenesis, and nanotechnology and has given presentations at local, national, and international scientific meetings.  His academic and research excellence have been recognized in the form of travel, scholarship, and fellowship awards from the Davies Charitable Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Society of Toxicology (SOT), the American Lung Association of North Carolina, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Dr. Card is a member of SOT and the Society of Toxicology of Canada.
