Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.

Overview of Changes: Standard C22.2 No. 85-14, Rigid PVC boxes and fittings, adds requirements for floor boxes, wall boxes and ceiling boxes, and adds new tests covering resistance to ingress of scrub water for floor boxes, and elevated temperature pullout and distortion for wall and ceiling boxes. Specific details of new/revised requirements are found in table below.

5.15.1 New: Wall Boxes - A specimen of a box of each type, each having at least two threaded or unthreaded holes, and a specimen of each size involved shall be tested in accordance with Clause 6.3.6.1 of CSA C22.2 No. 18.2, subject to a 18.2 kg load. 
5.15.2 New: Ceiling Boxes - Nonmetallic outlet boxes intended to support a fixture/luminaire in ceiling installations shall comply with test and marking requirements in Clause 6.3.6.2 of CSA C22.2 No. 18.2. 
5.16infoAdd New: Resistance to ingress of scrub water for floor boxes 
5.16.1 New: For purposes of resistance to ingress of scrub water, the term “joints” shall be used to refer to points of potential water entry and points of access to conductors or connections for power or light circuits. All distances from plane of floor to joints shall be measured after box is installed as intended.
