Intertek Lintec expands global reach of Protek services to address pandemic risk management for the Maritime industry

London: Intertek Lintec, a leader in providing services for the shipping community, is pleased to announce the launch of Intertek Protek Maritime, a comprehensive and practical health and safety solution for the maritime industry that will provide guidance on Intertek’s high standards of safety, health and hygiene to ship owners and crew.
Over the past year, the Maritime industry has been affected severely by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Not only has it been a battle to prevent the virus from spreading to crew members onboard ships as they deliver vital cargoes around the world, but it has also caused a humanitarian crisis as hundreds of thousands of sailors have been unable to return home to their families at the end of their employment contracts.

Beyond masks, physical distancing and enhanced cleaning, a comprehensive and strategic approach to reduce both airborne and direct contact transmission risks and provide assurance to stakeholders is needed.
The assessment will also identify opportunities to support the morale and wellbeing of seafarers. Protek Certification is achieved if applicable best practices for pathogen transmission risk reduction have been implemented.
