Triple Notified Body status for Intertek Italia
Udine: Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has earned ISO 17065 accreditation from Accredia, the national accreditation body for Italy, becoming a Notified Body under the ATEX Directive, GAR Regulation and BED Directive.
Intertek Italia Spa has been validated and published on the New Approach Notified and Designated Organizations (NANDO) website under the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The European Union’s ATEX Directive address explosion safety risks associated with electrical and non-electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, with a third-party approval route for selling in the EU market.
The legal framework for selling gas appliances and fittings in the EU market is the Gas Appliances Regulation (EU) 2016/426 (GAR) for appliances burning gaseous fuel. It applies to appliances burning gaseous fuels used for cooking, heating, hot water production, refrigeration, lighting, and washing, and their related fittings. To be placed into the EU market, these appliances require an EU certificate from a third party designated as a Notified Body for the GAR Regulation. In addition, hot-water boilers fired with liquid or gaseous fuels can be marketed only after Notified Body approval following the 92/42/EEC Boiler Efficiency Directive (BED).
