Intertek to Share Consumer Product Safety Expertise at ICPHSO’s Annual Meeting

Chicago – Intertek, a leading provider of quality solutions to industries around the world, will participate in the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization’s (ICPHSO) 2016 Annual Meeting & Training Symposium, February 29 - March 3, in Washington, D.C. Intertek experts will speak at sessions on internal compliance programs and using social media insights to improve products, offering their knowledge and expertise related to ICPHSO’s theme of collaborating today for a safer tomorrow.
Intertek’s speakers will present on the following topics:
- Monday, February 29: Dr. Pratik Ichhaporia, Director of Technical Services, joins a panel discussion, How to Stand-up an Internal Compliance Program Without Falling Down: A Real-World, Step-by-Step Guide, that will examine how to establish an effective internal compliance program (ICP), in line with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements. During the panel, he and other speakers will address the key aspects of an effective ICP, including core elements, internal investigation and litigation considerations, product testing and best practices.
- Tuesday, March 1: Xiao Chen, Vice President of Product Assurance Safety Operations, participates in Product Safety in the Age of E-Commerce: Using Social Media to Augment Your Product Safety Management Tools, a panel presentation that will use a case study approach to examine how social media platforms can provide critical information to manufacturers, retailers, standards development organizations and government agencies. Data collection, reporting, corrective action approaches and metric tracking will also be discussed.
During the exhibit portion of the symposium, Intertek experts will offer insights into product safety and compliance for toys, apparel, furniture, appliances, electronics and more. Visitors to the booth can speak with Intertek representatives one-on-one about issues like the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform, other state chemical regulations and revisions to the ASTM toy safety standard.
