World’s most advanced cheese dispensing system honored by industry association

Chicago – Intertek, a leading provider of quality solutions to a  range of industries worldwide, recently partnered with Gehl Foods, LLC, to support the design and development of their newest cheese dispensing system, the Gehl’s 2.0.

Gehl’s patented ‘2.0’ dispenser gives convenience stores, concessions, quick and limited service restaurants, theaters, travel centers, and many others in the foodservice industry an efficient way to offer a variety of new cheese flavors and support limited time offers within a contemporary, space-efficient design . Gehl’s expects the new dispenser to drive increased traffic, transactions, and profit improvements for their customers. The dispenser was launched at the 2015 National Association for Convenience and Fuel Retailing Show (NACS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, where retailers ranked more than 12,000 new products on business potential and the profit impact these products could deliver. Based on more than 290,000 votes, Gehl’s 2.0 was awarded 1st place in the “Cool New Products” competition.

“The successful launch of Gehl’s 2.0 is a great example of cross-functional teamwork, and solid collaboration across a terrific group of suppliers and vendors,” said Ron Neugold, Gehl Foods Senior Vice President of Food-Away-From-Home. “Our final design and on-time launch wouldn’t have been possible without the insights, rigorous performance testing, and solid service we received from Intertek throughout our development process. Thanks to Intertek’s help, we’re pleased to offer the industry this breakthrough dispenser that meets foodservice operator’s needs for variety, flexibility, freshness, and consumer customization!”

Intertek Consulting’s expertise in product design and design for manufacturability ensured the product met industry requirements and exceeded customer expectations. Competitive testing conducted by Intertek documented the dispenser’s energy saving design and validated that it consumes approximately 60 percent less energy than conventional cheese sauce dispensers.

“Intertek is committed to helping customers like Gehl Foods launch breakthrough products in the marketplace,” said Gregg Tiemann, Intertek’s Chief Operating Officer for North America & North East Asia. “Intertek’s assurance-based offerings provide ‘design it right the first time’ expertise that helps manufacturers reduce rework and stumbling blocks to quickly bring innovative products to market.”
