Chicago – Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, today announced that Sherri Bassner has been elected to the board of directors of the Industrial Research Institute (IRI). She joined the 12-member board yesterday during an official initiation at IRI’s Annual Meeting in Seattle.

“IRI continues to deliver value for innovation professionals facing the same managerial challenges across every industry,” said Ed Bernstein, IRI President. “Delivering such value, however, is only possible thanks to exceptional leaders, like Sherri, who step up to guide this rich and diverse organization of ours.”

As the Vice President of Chemical Services at Intertek, Bassner supports clients with chemical testing and investigative needs throughout the various stages of product development, including a range of research and development (R&D) and problem solving needs, material evaluation and selection, regulatory compliance and failure analysis.

“Sherri has extensive knowledge and experience that our clients depend on to help them develop innovative products,” said Gregg Tiemann Chief Executive of Products at Intertek. “We congratulate her on the opportunity to bring her insights and understanding of research and design to more organizations and individuals through her membership on the IRI board.”

IRI is governed by an elected Board of Directors, consisting of the Chairman, Chairman-Elect, Vice Chairman, immediate Past Chairman, and 12 other directors. As a director, Bassner will serve a 3-year term.
