Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to industries worldwide, this week celebrates the issue of their 20,000th ASTA certificate to validate the safety of electrical transmission, distribution or installation products.

For more than 75 years, a group of engineering experts in Rugby, UK have been assessing electrical equipment for safety.  This week, that team celebrates the issue of their 20,000th certificate, demonstrating that independent certification is still valued by industry and sought by manufacturers after more than seven decades.

ASTA certificates are recognised across the world as demonstrating a commitment to product safety, and are often required by electrical authorities and utilities before equipment can be put on service within the electrical network. They are issued for products varying from installation accessories such plugs and sockets to large industrial equipment used in power stations.

The Global Business Line Leader of Transmission and Distribution Equipment services at Intertek, Pierrick Balaire said: “The ASTA team at Intertek has issued 20,000 certificates to manufacturers in around 50 countries that validate the performance and safety of their electrical products. Electrical safety remains an issue that concerns domestic, commercial and industrial end-users and they want the peace of mind that independent validation of product reliability and safety brings.  We’re thrilled that after seventy five years, ASTA Certificates are still in high demand and trusted across the world to show that components and equipment have been tested to appropriate Standards, and so key to customer confidence.”
