Intertek expands suite of regulatory compliance solutions to include XRF screening

Ottawa, Canada – Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, announces the expansion of X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) screening services in Canada to assist businesses with global, regional, and local regulatory compliance requirements. XRF screening is a proven technique used to analyze materials and provide elemental identification within the electronics, medical and consumer goods industries.

Intertek’s experts can screen products or inventories with hand-held XRF scanning technology at either their own laboratories or at the client’s facilities. These devices can detect high levels of restricted substances and identify products that may require further laboratory testing. An XRF analysis can be used to support quality control and can also be used as a pre-screening tool to ensure materials are meeting their compliance requirements. Intertek experts using this technology, will identify the presence of the substances in their elemental form and accurately measure the concentration with minimal or no sample preparation required.
The XRF testing services will also provide further risk-mitigation and self-certification options for compliance requirements prescribed under Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS); Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals (REACH); California Proposition 65; California Safer Consumer Products regulation (CA-SCP); the Packaging Directive (94/62/EC); and Conflict Minerals (Dodd-Frank Act Section 1502).
