Intertek experts will deliver important updates on Canada`s chemicals management program and the status of Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Implementation in Canada and the USA.

Ontario, Canada - Intertek, the leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, is pleased to announce its participation at ChemCon Europe 2014, the International Conference on Chemical Control Legislation & Trade Aspects, in Istanbul, Turkey, on March 31st - April 4th, 2014.

Karen Levins, Business Leader for Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy, has been asked to share her chemical regulatory wisdom and compliance advice as part of the following presentations:

“Canada - an Update on the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP), the Industry Challenge, and next priorities for new and existing Substances” in Session 4 on April 1, 2014.

“GHS: Implementation in the United States and Canada” in Session 15 on April 4, 2014.

Ms. Levins has also been asked to moderate ChemCon`s Session 10 that will focus on nanomaterials and endocrine disruptors, and Session 11 that will deliver important advice on the global approach to new chemicals testing and notification.

ChemCon Europe 2014 is a global platform, which brings together more than 200 experts representing companies, authorities and international organizations from over 25 countries. Presentations given by more than 35 speakers from governments and industry will deliver important updates on current and emerging legislation related to reporting and testing of new chemicals, chemical inventories, evaluations of existing chemicals, classification and labelling, risk management, hazard communication and product registration.

”Chemical companies, large and small, find it incredibly challenging to keep up with the growing number and complex nature of chemical control regulations that are in force or in development around the world” says, regulatory expert, Karen Levins.  “Although there are a wide variety of information sources, there are very few events with a program as comprehensive as ChemCon. I am honoured to support this event by providing a Canadian CMP update and a GHS update from North America.”

During this event, representatives from Intertek’s global (and local) team of regulatory experts and scientists will be available for consultation at the Intertek exhibition booth #6.  ChemCon attendees are encouraged to stop by the Intertek booth to discuss their company’s specific requirements and to find out how Intertek’s experts can deliver support and success.  To learn more about the chemical services offered by our scientific and regulatory consultants and from the larger Intertek organization, please visit www.intertek.com/chemicals.
