Intertek APTECH expert Stephen Anderson presents advanced Risk Based Inspection training

Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions, has been selected to present an industry training course on Risk Based Inspection (RBI) in South Africa.

RBI is an alternative to traditional inspection, which allows plant operators to identify and prioritize operational risks due to the degradation of equipment. By implementing an RBI program, organizations aim to minimize shutdowns, maintain on-stream time, reduce maintenance expenses, and ultimately extend the life expectancy of their plants. What’s more, as a result of improved inspection processes and reduced downtime, plants with RBI programs typically report a return on investment of up to $20 for every dollar spent to establish the program.

Stephen Anderson, CEO of Intertek’s APTECH group, will act as the training leader for the event, hosted by Salvo Global PTE, Ltd. With more than twenty years’ experience in developing innovative inspection and maintenance programs, Mr. Anderson has provided RBI consulting and training services to refineries, petrochemical plants, and oil companies located around the world.

The Advanced Risk Based Inspection Master Class will be held 14-16 February 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Organizations interested in attending the conference may email felicia@salvoglobal.com for more information or to register.

Intertek APTECH’s services help clients to identify and prevent the failure of equipment, improve reliability, predict life span, and analyze risks and costs - ultimately improving the operation and maintenance of vital infrastructure assets. These consultative services include RBI, Asset Integrity Management (AIM), condition assessments, and other complimentary engineering support services such as FFS (Fitness-for-Service) and RUL (Remaining Useful Life).
