High Temperature Gel Permeation Chromatography
01 Apr 2009
Intertek provides molecular weight testing of polyethylene and polypropylene samples using high temperature gel permeation chromatography (HT-GPC) in the UK. The lab includes world-class expertise in polymer testing, research and troubleshooting. We work with clients on a global basis, analyzing polymer samples from all over the world.
High Temperature Gel Permeation Chromatography helps our clients with:
- Testing against product specifications
- Measuring change in molecular weight distribution of feedstocks and raw materials
- Measurement of polymer degradation
- Quality control system for polymer production
- Failure analysis of products and materials
- Product performance investigations
- Other applications
The Intertek high temperature GPC is equipped with a viscometer and refractive index detector, and is capable of conventional and universal calibration and conventional calibration, with correction using Mark-Houwink constants.

- Gel Permeation Chromatography
The laboratory uses a Polymer Laboratories PL-GPC 220 integrated GPC system, which maintains all sample path zones at high temperature to ensure accurate analysis. Intertek has extensive expertise in the characterisation of a wide range of polymers by GPC and many other investigative instrumental techniques, offering a multi-technique approach to developments and problem solving in the polymer industry.
