Intertek Opens Innovative Food Testing Laboratory in Beijing

Intertek, the leading international provider in quality and safety services, opened a new, innovative food testing laboratory in the southwest area of Beijing, China to offer an array of services to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers who produce, import, buy and sell food products in Beijing and Northern China.

The new facility will offer a multitude of testing services that help customers to ensure food quality and safety throughout the supply chain – from the farm to the fork. Services offered include time-sensitive testing on food samples, and other expert services and support.

The opening of the laboratory coincides with the commencement of the Beijing Olympics in August. The lab will support international and local food companies and brands in supplying high volumes of food at Olympic outlets with rapid quality and safety services. In addition, it will assist companies that are supplying increased amounts of food across the greater Beijing area to meet visitor demand. The lab will also provide monitoring of hygiene conditions for food establishments and vendors participating in the internationally attended event. In the long term, the lab will support ongoing growth in the supply and sourcing of food products in China and surrounding Asian markets.

Intertek has an expanding international network of expert food-dedicated facilities, through which it provides a full suite of services including auditing, certification, consultancy, and inspection, and testing. The new Beijing lab joins Intertek’s key Asian Pacific food facilities in Shanghai, Vietnam, India and Philippines as well as locations across Europe, North and South America. In Europe, Intertek has acquired three new expert food-related laboratories in the past year to support food trade within Europe and by European companies internationally.
