The Insecticides Act, 1968, and Insecticides Rules, 1971 were enacted in India to regulate the import, manufacture, sale, transport, distribution, and use of insecticides with a view to prevent risk to human beings or animals, and for matters connected therewith. All insecticides (pesticides) have to undergo the registration process with the Authoritative bodies (Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB & RC) before they can be made available for use or sale.
