Case Study: Detection of Self-Assembled Alkane Thiol Monolayer
Polarization-Modulated Infrared Reflection-Absorption Spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS) is a method that provides valuable information on how molecules and very thin films are bonded to the surface of a metal. This case study uses PM-IRRAS to show how surface selectivity and sensitivity of an IRRAS measurement is determined using a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of an alkane thiol on a gold-coated microscope slide.
