Intertek Presents in Scientific Session on ‘Marketing Wellness in the Era of a Pandemic and Onward’ at IFT 2021 (FIRST)

Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, will be presenting alongside regulatory and enforcement bodies during a scientific session at IFT 2021 (FIRST), taking place virtually from July 19-21, 2021.

IFT 2021 will bring together global experts, entrepreneurs, and solution providers from all sectors of the science of food industry to discuss new and innovative ways to address food challenges and to spark new ideas. This year, IFT's annual event has been transformed into a new AI-enabled virtual event which will provide attendees with a forum to share their knowledge and foster strategic relationships.

During the event, Intertek Health, Environmental & Regulatory Services (HERS) expert, Kathy Musa-Veloso along with professionals from the Federal Trade Commission and KGK Science Inc. will be presenting in the session titled, "Marketing Wellness in the Era of a Pandemic and Onward”.  This informative session will highlight how the marketing landscape for foods and dietary supplements has changed dramatically, owing to the societal effects of COVID-19 over the last year.  Attendees will learn about marketing campaigns for new products as they relate to wellness, immune support, or stress-relief and the increased consumer demand for these types of products.  Additionally, the impact of COVID-19 on health claims for foods and supplements will be addressed, as well as highlight the scientific requirements for the substantiation of claims related to wellness and immunity.  The session panelists will discuss key considerations in the design of clinical studies intended to further our understanding of the role of health, diet, supplements in the defense against COVID-19, and strategies for the successful conduct of these studies; both during these challenging times and afterwards.  Lastly, there will be valuable discussion on the enforcement of health claims, how to identify common topics/claims that draw the attention of/alert authorities, and examples of claims made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
