India: Cosmetic Packaging Compliance

There are basic requirements for cosmetic packaging & labelling in India; however, there is no existing specific regulation or guideline for safety of cosmetic packaging. As some substances can migrate from the material to the cosmetic formula and induce a risk for consumers, Intertek will share an approach to assess cosmetic packaging based on regulatory information provided by the material and/or packaging supplier in accordance with the Packaging Advisory Document from Cosmetics Europe. In EU, cosmetic products are controlled by the European regulation 1223/2009/EC which requires an assessment of the interaction between the formulation and the packaging. Additionally, our experts will address how to assess the safety packaging based on analytical testing of materials during this presentation.
