Intertek's leading state-of-the-art testing and global compliance strategies provides companies quick and effective solutions for the End-of-Life Vehicle Directive.

Europe’s End-of-Life Vehicle Directive (Directive 2000/53/EC - the “ELV” Directive), sets recovery targets for recycling of vehicles and components, encourages manufacturers to design their vehicles with part reuse and recycling in mind, and restricts the use of certain heavy metals in new vehicle manufacturing processes.

Intertek provides global testing and certification services to support ELV compliance for automotive and related industries. Our services include:

• Trace level detection for the presence of lead, mercury, chromium-VI, cadmium and other trace chemicals using an extensive range of state-of-the-art instrumentation.
• Comprehensive and on-going dismantling and treatment instruction documentation services to meet ELV requirements for provision to recyclers and dismantlers.
