The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently adopted the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in its promulgated Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) earlier this year.

The US HazCom 2012 includes changes to hazard classifications, safety data sheets and labelling provisions. Consequently, manufacturers, importers, distributors and downstream users will need to ensure that their Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and labels are compliant and up-to-date with the new standard before the established deadlines.
