Intertek’s New Polymer Testing Tool Addresses Markets Needs from Failure Analysis to New Product Development

Allentown, PA –Intertek (LSE: ITRK ), a leading provider of testing services to a wide range of industries, today announced the expansion of its polymer testing capabilities for the Americas. Both high temperature gel permeation chromatography (HT-GPC) and absolute mass gel permeation chromatography are now available. The addition of this HT-GPC solution enables manufacturers, scientists and engineers across industries to have polymer products tested in one location reducing development costs and shortening time to market. More specifically, these tools will allow Intertek to conduct testing on more industrially relevant materials from new product development to failure analysis activities.
HT-GPC and absolute mass GPC are critical for establishing differences which directly translate to end application performance. Raw material variability or in-use degradation often result in molecular weight distribution variations. Key industrial polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, rubbers and others can now be evaluated using these new testing capabilities.
The new addition of Intertek’s expanded GPC polymer characterization tools will better address the needs of many top industries including construction, medical devices and composites. While this extended solution will help in product development and failure analysis, it also will address material replacement activities. .
