Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, will be discussing  the use and benefits of various non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques at the Middle East Steel Conference for the Oil and Gas Industry (MESCOG) from 17th – 19th April 2016 at the Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai.

This year at MESCOG, Santanu Saha, Technical Manager at Intertek INSPEC, will present on the use of ultrasonic phased arrays to examine welds on specific class of stainless steel alloy and ultrasonic guided waves for over-ground and heavily coated piping. These techniques help ensure the reliability and safety of products, equipment and plant assets in the oil and gas industry by detecting defects and irregularities before they cause damage, operating inefficiencies or in-service failure. Santanu will share his insight on industrial inspection and asset integrity management services that ensure quality control as well as compliance to safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Santanu said: "Across the globe, evolving technological capabilities are becoming tools to overcome quality and safety challenges in a variety of industries such as oil and gas, power and construction. Intertek’s team identifies the appropriate techniques and procedures to help prevent asset failure. I will share our experience in using various NDT techniques for the examination of specific welds and the inspection of buried pipelines. Our goal is to provide our customers with the necessary data to assist them in making informed decisions that ensure safe and efficient operations while minimizing risks and loss of revenue due to product, equipment and asset defects or failure.”

The conference has become an important technical forum facilitating the exchange of practical experiences in various aspects related to steel production and protection. Intertek is pleased to be part of this platform and share insights with a variety of stakeholders in the steel industry.

Intertek has launched a technical service webinar series to help clients minimize risk through better understanding of assurance management solutions. The webinar series will educate clients on the utilization of technical services such as non-destructive testing (NDT), asset integrity management, training and technical inspection techniques to help maximize operational productivity, extend assets’ lifecycles and maintain safety.   https://www.intertek.com/consulting/technical-services-webinar-series/

About Non-Destructive Testing
NDT is a technique used to help assure safety and reliability through detection of any flaws or defects in products or industrial components such as pipelines, power stations, refineries and oil platforms, without disrupting operations or delaying processes. Demand for this service has grown, driven by increasing regulation and standardisation, extending asset lifespans and the need to protect reputation from product failure.
