GLADSTONE, Australia - Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, has announced the opening of a new fuels testing laboratory in Gladstone, Queensland.

The new lab has the capability to service all major LNG producers in the region; including Australia Pacific LNG, Queensland Curtis LNG and Santos LNG, while also providing a fast and effective local fuel and gas testing service to downstream petroleum clients.

The opening of the new facility marks growth in Intertek’s local and global capabilities and is demonstrative of the significance of Queensland’s role as a major LNG producer in the global market.

Recently, Ian Galloway, Regional COO for Intertek’s Sub-Sahara Africa and Australasia region, traveled to Gladstone from the UAE to unveil the new laboratory, hosting local LNG producers and petroleum processors at a ribbon cutting ceremony and facility tour.

The coastal town of Gladstone, Queensland is now an industrial powerhouse for three world-scale LNG plants on Curtis Island. Within a few years Australia is set to become the largest producer of LNG globally.

“With the start up of this new $70 billion export industry in Queensland, our new laboratory will service all major LNG producers in the region, as well as downstream petroleum clients providing a local fuels and gas testing service to ensure quality and component analysis, with rapid turn around times. We are truly thrilled to be supporting world-class LNG projects in an emerging energy destination,” commented Ian Galloway, Regional COO for Intertek’s Sub-Sahara Africa and Australasia region.

Outside of the laboratory, Intertek also works across all stages of the LNG project lifecycle, supporting the production, transport, storage and custody transfer of LNG cargo with expert LNG cargo inspection, tank calibration and LNG quality testing.
