(Antwerp, Belgium)

Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has expanded the Antwerp, Belgium, laboratory with engine coolants quality testing capabilities. The ISO 17025 certified Antwerp laboratory has added a full range of engine coolants tests, in accordance to international standards. The new engine coolants lab supports local and regional customers.

"Testing engine coolant quality supports the automotive industry, and better protects engine and cooling systems from severe damage", said Eric Ris, Country Manager for Intertek Benelux. "Deterioration or degradation of coolant quality can have a negative impact on the performance, safety and reliability of the engine and cooling systems. Engine Coolant Quality Monitoring programs can reduce maintenance and associated costs, increase component life, and increase operational availability and safety for automotive fleets and individuals."

Intertek offers engine coolant testing programs according to ASTM D-3306, BS-6580, and OEM test standards.

"Modern engine systems are made of lighter materials and need to operate at higher temperature, causing more demands on engine coolant performance and characteristics", said Peter Gysen, Laboratory Manager. "Engine coolants must protect engines from severe temperature and corrosion, be compatible with different engine materials, and lubricate engine cooling pumps. If engine coolant quality prematurely degrades and deteriorates, severe damage to the engine and coolant systems can result."

Coolant samples can be easily shipped to the Intertek's global network of laboratories, with testing services provided within the 24hours for urgent samples.
