LONDON - Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, has signed a contract with the Government of Uganda to manage its new Pre- Export Verification of Conformity to Standards Programme (PVoC) for exports to the country.

The programme verifies the conformity of all regulated products in the respective exporting countries, ensuring they comply with the applicable Ugandan technical regulations and quality standards, protecting Uganda's citizens from sub standard imported goods.

David Gregory, Vice President of Intertek's Government and Trade Services said:  "We are delighted to   be working with the Government of Uganda and supporting them with the implementation of the PVoC.  Having introduced the very first Conformity Assessment Programme in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia more than 17 years ago, Intertek has the experience and expertise to provide the Government, and exporters to Uganda, with a rapid and excellent service."

Intertek has pioneered conformity assessment programmes for Governments worldwide and has issued more that 1.5 million test reports and certificates to global exporters to ensure that their goods comply and thus facilitate the smooth customs clearance upon arrival.
