Wilton, UK – Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, provides solutions for chemical and physical analysis of medical device polymers. Plastics production for the medical industry is a rapidly expanding market, with a diverse range of applications for polymers. From single use disposable pipette tips to life-long artificial implants, the medical industry relies heavily on plastics manufacturing and distribution.

Intertek expert and global medical Business Scientist, John Dale, has authored a paper titled “Choosing the Correct Analytical Instrumentation for Solving Chemical & Science Problems”. This paper, based on Intertek’s many years of experience in the chemical and physical analysis of medical device polymers, will cover a core suite of analytical technology, the scientific approaches and the analytical strategies which can be adopted in order to conduct investigational problem solving studies for medical device polymers.

The paper will be showcased at the Mediplas conference in Birmingham, UK September 25-26th during the Testing, Regulations & Legislations Conference Session. Mediplas is a focused event for stakeholders in manufacturing plastic parts for the medical industry. The conference and exhibition cover all areas of the medical plastics supply chain – including design and prototyping, materials, process control and sensing, mould making and temperature control, end of line/assembly, regulation, contract manufacturing and testing of these materials and components.

“The research and data showcased in this paper are based on years of experience” said Dr. Andrew Swift, Executive Vice President of Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals at Intertek. “Our knowledge helps medical device companies navigate the scientific and engineering challenges of product development.”
