Intertek has four National Certification Bodies (NCB) and numerous CB Testing Laboratories (CBTL) globally.

The CB Scheme was created by the IECEE (International Electrotechnical Commission for Electrical Equipment). It’s an international program for the exchange and acceptance of product safety test results among participating laboratories and certification organizations around the world. The CB Scheme offers manufacturers a simplified way of obtaining multiple national safety certifications for their products — providing entry into over 45 countries. Local Testing for Worldwide Safety Compliance
Through our global network of testing labs, Intertek provides four National Certification Bodies (NCB) for the CB Scheme process and numerous CB Testing Laboratories (CBTL). With a CB Test Report from a CBTL and a corresponding CB Certificate from an NCB, you may obtain multiple national safety certifications for your products. To obtain a national certification without additional testing, you must submit your CB Certificate and Test Report to an NCB in a participating CB Scheme country.

Already have a CB Certificate?
If you have already obtained a CB Test Certificate and CB Test Report for your product from another participating NCB, we can accept those documents as a basis for issuing one of our certification marks—the ETL Listed Mark for U.S. and/or Canada or the S Mark for Europe. 

CB-Full Certification Scheme (CB-FCS)
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) announced the introduction of the CB -Full Certification Scheme (CB-FCS), coining it "the world's first truly international certification system" to facilitate global market acceptance. The CB-FCS offers improvements over the current CB certification system through its use of a multilateral agreement (MLA). This MLA provides for the cooperation of factory inspections in cases where a manufacturer holds several national certificates and by abolishing the requirement to provide secondary countries with test samples. 16 national certification bodies from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific are signatories to the multilateral agreement (MLA). The CB-FCS Scheme operates within the scope of the IEC standards for electrical equipment accepted for use in the CB Scheme. Products covered under the CB-FCS are the same as for the CB Scheme. 

Major benefits from the current CB Scheme to the CB-FCS include:

• Introducing initial factory inspections
• Accepting integrated components in appliances which have already been tested
• Not requiring test samples to secondary bodies for national certifications
