What is an Intertek Florida Building Code Report?
A Florida Building Code Report (FBCR) is a technical report prepared by Intertek summarizing a manufacturer’s product or system’s conformance to the Florida Building Code.
FBCRs address compliance with applicable sections of the Florida Building Code with the aim to facilitate approval of building products within the State of Florida. The FBCR could cover full compliance inside and outside of the HVHZ. This service simplifies the process of obtaining a Florida Product Approval and helps manufacturers earn the trust of Code Officials and AHJs knowing that their the products meet the state's requirements.
How long does the FBCR process take?
Our engineers will work with you to ensure your project is completed on time and as efficiently as possible.
Manufacturers seeking FBCR may already possess the required test data generated by an accredited laboratory. In such cases, Intertek’s engineering team can perform a thorough technical review of the data to confirm compliance with FBC requirements. Concurrently, Intertek will establish a Quality Assurance (QA) program tailored to the product and manufacturing process. Once these elements are in place, the FBCR can typically be issued within a matter of weeks, pending a successful Initial Factory Assessment (IFA). Following a successful IFA approval, the FBCR is published.
For manufacturers without existing data, Intertek offers end-to-end support by developing a tailored test plan, conducting all necessary testing, and implementing the associated QA program and IFA. This comprehensive approach allows Intertek to serve as a true one-stop shop for Florida Product Approvals as an approved provider of testing, quality assurance, certification, evaluation reports, and product validation.
