Jet Fire Testing (ISO 22899 Part 1)
Intertek helps offshore petrochemical manufacturers, suppliers, and designers meet ISO 22899 requirements in the U.S. Learn more.
Manufacturers must often test their products for fire resistance, flammability, and flame spread before they can be legally sold on the market. Intertek's fire resistance testing facilities include vertical and horizontal full-size, half-scale, and small-scale furnaces as well as an Intermediate Scale, Multistory Test Apparatus (ISMA) allowing us to test products of virtually any size.
Intertek's flammability testing facilities contain a cone calorimeter and several rooms for full-scale room burns and large hoods for open calorimetry allowing us to meet all of your flammability testing needs. Intertek's furniture testing labs can perform testing to virtually all applicable standards, including ASTM E1537, BIFMA, NFPA 266, NFPA 267, UFAC, and California Technical Bulletins 116, 117, 129, and 133.
Flammability & Fire Resistance
Whether testing to industry requirements, association standards, or running custom tests for research and development, Intertek has the expertise to meet your needs. From full-scale two-story room burns to cigarette ignition of furniture fabric we have the facilities to handle virtually any size flammability or fire resistance testing project. Our complete testing facilities enable us to test the fire resistance of products ranging from floor/ceiling multistory assemblies to fire doors to penetration seals. We have the expertise and accreditations to test to a variety of applicable industry standards, including ASTM E119 and UL 1709.
Flammability
Our flammability testing facilities include rooms for full scale room burns, large hoods for open calorimetry and ICAL testing, and a climate controlled conditioning room. Our extensive industry expertise gives us the ability to test a variety of building products such as wall panels, coverings, foam plastics, and an assortment of other materials.
As the leader in flammability testing of furniture and mattresses we can evaluate components and full-scale furniture including upholstered furniture and mattresses to virtually all applicable standards, including ASTM E1537, BIFMA, NFPA 266, NFPA 267, UFAC, and California Technical Bulletins 116, 117, 129, and 133.
Flame Spread and Smoke Developed
Our flame and smoke spread testing capabilities include Steiner tunnel testing, radiant panel testing, and flooring radiant panel testing. We have the capabilities to test to a variety of industry standards such as ASTM E84, ASTM E648, ASTM E162, ASTM E662, ASTM E970, NFPA 255, ANSI 2.5, UBC 8-1, UL 910, UL 723 and UL 1820. We can also evaluate furniture to test methods specified by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and BIFMA. Our latest addition is the ability to offer flame spread testing for in-duct air filters using our UL 900 test apparatus.
Small Scale Fire Testing
Whether conducting required test procedures, or running custom-designed tests for research and development, small-scale tests are as important to fire safety issues as their large scale counterparts. By conducting testing within our small-scale lab manufacturers can gain an understanding of how their products will perform in actual fire situations.
Our equipment includes a cone calorimeter used to determine the heat release, smoke generation, and combustion of products such as industrial fluids, fire retardant polymers, furnishings, wire coverings, appliance housings, insulation, and wall coverings. We also have the ability to conduct Bunsen burner ignition testing to industry requirements such as UL 94.
