Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.
Overview of Changes: New and revised Instructions, Markings, Testing, and Construction requirements. Specific details of new/revised requirements are found in table below.
If the applicable requirements noted in the table are not described in your report(s), these requirements will need to be confirmed as met and added to your report(s) such as markings, instructions, test results, etc. (as required).

Information – To assist our Engineer with review of your Listing Reports, please submit technical information in response to the new/revised paragraphs noted in the attached or explain why these new/revised requirements do not apply to your product (s).
Current Listings Not Active? – Please immediately identify any current Listing Reports or products that are no longer active and should be removed from our records. We will do this at no charge as long as Intertek is notified in writing prior to the review of your reports.
|4.23.1||The boxed warning in the appliance instruction manual required by this clause has been amended to add a warning symbol and language to become consistent with the ANSI Z535 series of standards on warning labels and marking. Previous language has been deleted and replaced with language consistent with boxed safety alerts in other Z21.83 gas appliance standards. A new appliance installation manual must be submitted for evaluation.|
|4.24.2||The appliance rating plate marking requirement has been changed to replace the words “LP” and “liquefied petroleum” with “propane”. New appliance rating plates must be submitted for evaluation.|
|5.12||This clause has been amended to clarify that following the “Water dispensing systems” test appliances which are cord connected and rated 20 amperes or less must comply with the leakage current test while all other appliances are subjected to the insulation resistance test.|
|5.20.1||Following the test in Clause 5.1.2, for an appliance intended for permanent installation, the insulation resistance between current-carrying parts and non-currentcarrying parts shall be a minimum of 50,000 ohms as specified in Clause 5.20.2.|
|5.20.2||Insulation resistance shall be measured by either:|
a) applying a direct-current potential of 250 volts between live parts and the
enclosure and other exposed dead metal parts, using 2 voltmeters — 1 voltmeter
being connected across the supply line and the other connected in series with one of
the leads to the dryer being tested. See Figure 3.
The insulation resistance shall be calculated by the formula:
V1I =I the reading of the line voltage;
VsI =I the voltage reading of the other voltmeter; and
RsI =I the resistance of the voltmeter;
b) using self-contained laboratory grade instrumentation that produces equivalent
results, such as a megohmmeter with an open circuit output of 500 volts DC, may be
used in place of the 2 voltmeter circuit shown in Figure 3.

|Annex A (normative)||The requirements for gas conversion kits have been amended to require a change to|
the existing printed instructions in section A3 by the inclusion of a warning symbol to
existing boxed warning.
Appliances currently Certified with a gas conversion kit must be reevaluated for
compliance with these requirements.
