Intertek muddy runners go the extra mile for Help for Heroes

More than 20 hardy Intertek UK staff have swapped lab coats for lycra as they warm up for a tough cross-country run through mud, up savage hills and through more mud in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.
Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification provider to industries worldwide, has fielded a strong team of runners from across its UK businesses for the notoriously tough 5km charity run on the eve of defence industry exhibition DVD2016.
The MAD5K, which takes place on Tuesday 6th September involves 5km of tortuous hills, mud and more hills and is held around a normally closed to the public off-road vehicle test track, near Intertek’s Milton Keynes site.
Intertek staff will be at the Millbrook Proving Ground near Milton Keynes, where the run takes place, as they will be showcasing Intertek’s defence industry testing capabilities at the bi-annual defence industry exhibition DVD2016, at the same location.
Tony Braddon, Managing Director of Intertek Transportation Technologies Milton Keynes will be competing for the first time and is hoping the team will be harnessing some of the engine power of the high performance and electric vehicles the company tests.
David Breach, Intertek UK Business Lead for Analytical Services and first time MAD5K runner said: “The Armed Forces have to operate in these conditions on a daily basis, so the least our Intertek staff can do is run 5km in similar terrain to raise money for such an excellent cause ...….but maybe ask me again when we’ve finished!”
