Chicago – May 31, 2016 – Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has reviewed four (4) HP Indigo Digital Presses against established health and environmental requirements and has renewed their Green Leaf certification mark.

Intertek’s Green Leaf certification mark is a third party assessment and certification program. The mark provides proof that a product has been independently verified and found to conform to multiple existing environmental regulations. It is used on products and packaging, in point of purchase displays, product advertising, and literature to promote and explain a product’s environmental credentials. The certification program is based on independent verification of data submitted by suppliers and the company.

The HP products carrying the Green Leaf mark are the HP Indigo 5900, 7900, 8000 and 10000 Digital Presses. The mark verifies the exclusion of substances classified as harmful to the environment and health, including regulated “substances of concern”, heavy metals, and aromatic amines. It also verifies the elimination of many hazardous substances typically used in offset printing and independently verified recycling claims including the sound recovery and treatment of used consumables such as cartridges and imaging oil recycling and other environmental sustainability aspects.

“Intertek is pleased to support HP in their commitment to sustainability and to meeting global health and environmental standards,” said Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Vice President, Global Health, Environmental and Regulatory Services, Intertek. “The Green Leaf verification program is a rigorous process that can cover a wide range of health and environmental requirements, but it demonstrates to consumers, retailers and government authorities that your sustainability claims have been independently verified.”
