Intertek Awarded Fuel Quality Monitoring System in France

Paris — Intertek, the leading global provider of safety and quality services to a wide range of industries, has been awarded a contract for the provision of Fuel Quality Monitoring System (FQMS) services by the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainability and the General Direction of Energy and Climate (DGEC). The FQMS programme assesses the quality of automotive fuels available to consumers in the whole of France.
While fuel retailers and refiners all have their own quality programmes in place, the DGEC also uses Intertek to conduct random fuel sampling in petrol stations and storage facilities to ensure consistent quality in the automotive fuels sold across France. The programme includes sampling and quality testing according to EN590 and EN228 specifications, and will run throughout the year. Similar programmes are run by Intertek in Spain and Portugal, along with independent programs run for petroleum and fuel retail companies throughout Europe.

Fuel supply chains are complex. The obligatory blending of biofuels is adding to this complexity. The FQMS program helps the government and fuel companies ensure their customers get fuels that meet the relevant specifications and are fit for purpose."
