Intertek (www.intertek.com), the leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, is hosting a New China Chemical Legislation Symposium to bring together businesses and government to discuss the issues, challenges, and chemical compliance requirements impacting many companies and their supply chains today and in the future. A growing number of jurisdictions and governments worldwide have implemented or are in the process of developing hazardous substances laws, including the EU, China, and the United States to protect human health and the environment. As regulatory requirements and enforcement in each jurisdiction varies, this Symposium will allow industry leaders and regulators to discuss together the challenges in ensuring compliance with varying laws and standards across global manufacturing and supply-chain processes. The Symposium, “The Impact of the New China Legislation on Global Notification Strategies,” will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at The Westin Oaks Houston located in Houston, TX. It will address the business obligations for China’s chemical legislation on global notification. It will also discuss how China’s new legislation compliments other global, regional, or local requirements. In addition, you will learn how businesses can create a single strategy for the broadest compliance. The keynote speaker will be Mr. Gao Yingxin, Director of MEP-CRC, who will present an overview of China’s Chemical Management System. A second keynote will be presented by Ms. Yang Li, Senior Engineer and Deputy Director of New Chemical Management Development – CRC, on the requirements under China’s Chemical Management System. Additional topics will include a review of the impact of China’s legislation on US businesses, and updates on changes in notification requirements worldwide, such as the USA TSCA reform, California’s Green Chemistry Initiative, and various others. There will also be an opportunity to get answers to your most pressing questions during an Open Expert Panel Discussion, including participation of SPI, US Department of Commerce, Alston & Bird, China MEP-CRC and Intertek.

”Businesses must understand and adapt to rapidly changing global chemical safety requirements,” states Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Global Vice President of Intertek Health and Environmental Services “Intertek is pleased to bring together top government and non-government officials to facilitate compliance of industry and businesses.”
